Get to Know Me

I have been in the coaching industry for 27 years. My expertise in this field has seen me work closely with a range of colleagues and wider stakeholders, across two secondary Headship roles. I have worked collegiately to  turn three schools from 'Special Measures' or 'Requires Improvement' to good.

 

I know what a good organisation look like, what good leadership looks like and I know how to make progress and demonstrate impact.  I can offer my services to support, guide or mentor at all levels, on an individual level or to support a larger organisation.

 

Throughout my career I have also coached, developed and worked with some of education and wider, corporate  industries most  successful leaders and helped them to achieve their goals.  Working with people at all levels in their career - from trainee to executives - I can help you to build the workforce you need, help you recognise talent, and build on it, help support the wellbeing of staff and leadership, and help you to develop sustainability for your future development.

Having held six senior leader roles, including two as head of organisation, for over twenty years in leadership, I decided post pandemic that I wanted to change the direction of my life, and do something that I loved, brought me joy, and which made me want to get up every morning to go out in the cold and wind!


A few years before, during a particularly difficult period in my leadership journey taking over a new organisation, I had had to face a restructure of the leadership team I had inherited, a lack of support for us in the community and a massive deficit budget. We could not recruit quality staff, the culture of the organisation was toxic and staff were feeling demoralised and apathetic. 


I invested in coaching as a means of trying to give myself some clarity in my decision making, in ensuring that I had explored all the options open to me before committing to some significant decisions that would have a huge impact on others lives, and to protect myself from the enormous amounts of stress the situation brought me. 


Looking back, although I did not realise at the time how significant investing in myself as a priority was, receiving coaching made me a more balanced and successful leader. I knew the decisions I was making were the right ones for the organisation, and that it would enable our long term vision for success to be achieved. And it was! Within a year we were in a completely different place and my marriage was still intact!  

Whilst I had been coaching informally for many years, and had some coaching qualifications behind me, I recognised that leaders in any sector or at any level, needed support to help them to navigate the many challenging and turbulent situations they found themselves facing daily. 


I knew the toll that  leading in challenging situations had on me, and I knew that I had the skill and experience to help others to survive and to be the leader they wanted to be! I wanted to work with people who wanted to make a difference in their own organisations, and who needed an opportunity to explore their challenges, issues, and opportunities confidentially in a non-judgemental, non-directive, and thought-provoking way, with someone they could trust and build a relationship with.  


I decided to undertake the level 7 senior and executive level coaching and mentoring qualification as it was important to me to be educated about how we think, why we act the way we do, what drives us and what ultimately destroys us! Investing in my own professional development gave me the credibility to be able to lead my business with integrity and so 'Lightbulb Moments' was created! 


Ultimately, I know what a good organisation looks like, I know what good leadership looks like and I know how to help you make progress and demonstrate impact. I offer my services to support, guide or mentor you at all levels, on an individual level or to support a larger organisation across various packages which are then tailored to suit your needs.

Working within your organisational ethos and values, I work with teams to build an authentic culture of coaching and mentoring, and support them to disseminate the skills they learn to secure a vision that is embodied by all. I also work with senior teams to develop effective, purposeful, and effective relationships which lead to impact. I can deliver personalised, individual sessions or full workshops.


Much of the work I have undertaken has been working with women in particular, but not exclusively, to ensure they acknowledge their skills and potential and have the confidence to succeed. Many of the people I have worked with, have gone on to achieve the next step they were looking for, and have valued the support and coaching in interview techniques. I have also championed and supported organisations and their staff to consider barriers presented by hidden disabilities - something which I understand first-hand.
